Kasparov's greetings to
opening of Petrosian's new monument |
|
| |
I am
happy
and
excited
to learn
about
the
opening
of a
monument
to
Tigran
Petrosian
in
Aparan.
I have
communicated
with
Petrosian
a lot,
and this
communication
helped
me
greatly.
He was a
genuine
classic.
Petrosian’s
rich
experience,
his
exact
estimation
of the
event on
and off
the
chessboard
were of
great
help to
me,
during
the
struggle
for the
World
Champion
title.
And of
course,
it was
traumatic
for me
when I
lost my
close
friend
and
teacher
Petrosian
right
before
my first
match.

Spassky's congratulations on Petrosian's monument
opening |
|
| |
From all
my heart
I congratulate
the
citizens
of
Aparan,
as well
as the
whole
of Armenia,
on the
opening
of a
memorial
to 9th
World
Chess
Champion
Tigran
Petrosian.
His
unique
play
style
and
chess
masterpieces
will be
part
of the
treasury
of chess
art
forever.
Our two
matches
in 1966
and 1969
were
remarkable
for
their
big
chess
fervor
which is
absolutely
natural.
But
human
relationship
were
always
correct
and
friendly.
My
opponent
beat me
in the
match of
1966 in
a
brilliant
manner.
