	The Chicago Open 2008 finished with an excellent success of GMs Varuzhan Akobian (USA) and Tigran L. Petrosian (Armenia). Armenian chess players scored 5,5 points of 7 each. GM Nakamura (USA) scored just as much. The two top on tie-breaks were Akobian and Petrosian who had a play-off Armageddon game. Akobian won and took the first prize, with the second prize going to Petrosian. 55 chess players participated in the event.

	14 year-old Armenian chess player Samvel Ter-Sahakyan achieved a Grandmaster norm at the 9th European Individual Championship held in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. Ter-Sahakyan had reached such an achievement for the first time in the 68th Armenian Championship in January of this year. Samvel Ter-Sahakyan will become the youngest Grandmaster in the whole Armenian chess history.
