Zaven Andriasian in Hoogoven Tournament
 
Armenian GM, World Juniors Champion Zaven Andriasian will take part in the Hoogoven Tournament which will be held on October 12-20, 2007 in Netherlands. GMs Ruslan Ponomariov (Ukraine), Loek Van Wely (Netherlands) and Shakhriyar Mamedyarov (Azerbaijan) will be Andriasian's competitors. The chess players will play twice with each other.

Jermuk - 2007 International Tournament
 
Armenian chess players Marat Mezhlumyan (U10), Samvel Ter-Sahakyan (U14), Hrant Melkumyan (U18) are the leaders with 4 points each after four rounds in the International Youth Tournament being held in Jermuk, Armenia.

Five rounds are left before the end of the tournaments.

Jermuk - 2007 International Tournament
 
International Youth Tournament with three groups (U10, U14, U18) is being held in Jermuk, Armenia. 68 chess players take part in the tournaments.

Three rounds have been held. Nikolay Golikov (Russia) and Armenian chess players Marat Mezhlumyan, Karen Hovhannisyan (U10), Khachatur Yeranian, Samvel Ter-Sahakyan (U14), Hrant Melkumyan (U18) are the leaders with 3 points each.

Six rounds are left before the end of the tournaments.

Rafael Vaganian is the Second in the Kings Tournament
 
Armenian GM Rafael Vaganian lost to GM Alexander Khalifman (Russia) in the last 11th round of the Kings Tournament held in Bazna, Romania.

Vaganian gained 6 points of 10 and took the second place. Khalifman is the first with 7 points.

Vaganian is Leading in the Kings Tournament
 
Armenian GM Rafael Vaganian won GM Lajos Portisch (Hungary) in the 10th round of the Kings Tournament held in Bazna, Romania. GM Alexander Khalifman (Russia) lost to Aleksander Beliavsky (Slovenia). Vaganian and Khalifman are the leaders before the last round with 6 points of 9 each.

The central game of the last 11th round is Khalifman - Vaganian.

Armenian Chess Players' New Titles
 
FIDE Presidential Board Meeting in Tallinn, Estonia confirmed the new titles of three Armenian chess players. Hrachik Tavadian got the International Organizer's, Hrair Simonian and Tigran A. Petrosian (conditional on rating) - International Master's Titles.

Woman International Master's Title got Tatiana Kasparova (Belarus).

David Markosian's Success
 
Armenian IM David Markosian had a great achievement in the IV Muhamedjianov Memorial, held in Naberezhnye Chelny, Russia. Markosian took clear 1st place with 7 points of 9 and left behind the nearest competitors with 1,5 points.

Markosian fulfilled a GM norm for the third time.

Akopian and Sargissian in the Spain Club Championship
 
Armenian GMs Vladimir Akopian and Gabriel Sargissian both ended in a draw with GMs Aleksandrov and Illeskas correspondingly in the 5th, last round of Spain Club Championship. Armenian chess players' team - Linex Magic ended the match with Caja Canarias Club with score 3:3.

Linex Magic (Adams, Ponomariov, Akopian, Sargissian, Perez Candelario, Carrasco) won the 1st place in the Spain Club Championship, Honor Division, 1st Group and got the right to play in the final.

Armenian GMs Vladimir Akopian and Gabriel Sargissian both ended in a draw with GMs Nielsen and Hracek correspondingly in the 2nd round of Spain Club Championship. Armenian chess players' team - Linex Magic Team ended the match with Reverte Albox Club with score 3:3.

Now Linex Magic (Adams, Ponomariov, Akopian, Sargissian, Perez Candelario, Carrasco) shares the 1-2nd places with Iretza Gros.

Akopian and Sargissian in the Spain Club Championship
 
Armenian GMs Vladimir Akopian and Gabriel Sargissian take part in the Spain Club Championship. They play in the Linex Magic Team.

The Linex Magic won the U.G.A. with score 4,5:1,5 in the first round. Sargissian had a victory over GM Felgaer and Akopian ended in a draw with GM Lopez Martinez.

Andranik Matikozian's Success
 
Armenian IM Andranik Matikozian gained 4,5 points of 6 and took the 2nd place in the Lina Grumette Memorial Day Classic Tournament, held in Los Angeles, USA. Matikozian was behind the winner IM Enrico Sevillano (USA) )only with 0,5 point.

43 chess players took part in the tournament.

Vaganian is the Leader in Kings Tournament
 
Armenian GM Rafael Vaganian won GMs Mecking (Brazil) and Timman (Netherlands) in the Kings Tournament held in Bazna, Romania. Vaganian is now the clear leader with 2 points of 2.

Vaganian plays with GM Ribli in the third round.

Harutjunyan and Simonian Fulfilled GM Norms
 
Armenian chess players Gevorg Harutjunyan and Hrair Simonian fulfilled GM norms in the "Alushta Spring" Tournament held in Alushta, Ukraine. Harutjunyan gained 10 points of 14 and took the 2nd place. And Simonian took the 3rd place with 9 points.

Another Armenian chess player IM Yuriy Ajrapetjan (Ukraine) won the 1st prize with 10,5 points.

Levon Aronian will Play in the World Championship
 

Armenian GM Levon Aronian after having victory over GM Aleksei Shirov (Spain) with score 3,5:2,5 in the Candidates Matches, got the right to take part in the World Championship which will be held in Mexico City, Mexico from September 11 to October 1, 2007.

GMs Kramnik (Russia), Anand (India), Svidler (Russia), Morozevich (Russia), Leko (Hungary), Gelfand (Israel) and Grischuk or Rublevsky (Russia) will be the other participants of the World Championship.

Armenian GM, World Cupholder Levon Aronian's opponent in the 2nd round of Candidates Matches in Elista, Russia is Alexei Shirov (Spain).

The other pairs of the 2nd round are: Leko - Bareev, Rublevsky - Grischuk, Gelfand - Kamsky.

Andranik Matikozian's Success
 
Armenian IM Andranik Matikozian gained 5 points of 6 and shared the 2-7th places with GM Viktor Korchnoi (Switzerland) and with some other strong chess players in the National Open Las Vegas, USA. Matikozian was behind the winner GM Hikaru Nakamura (USA) only with 0,5 point.

102 chess players were taking part in the tournament.

Armenian Chess Players in France Team Championship
 
Armenian GM Karen Asrian showed the best result on the first board in the France Team Championship. Asrian was leading the Bischwiller Club which took the 8th place among 16 teams.

Three other Armenian chess players won gold, silver and bronze medals correspondingly. WGM Almira Skripchenko-Agababean played in Clichy (1st place), IM Pavel Govchiyan in Cannes (2nd place), IM Manouck Thierry in Paris Chess 15 (3rd place) Clubs.

Edward Mnatsakanian - Armenian Senior's Champion
 
IM Edward Mnatsakanian became Armenian Senior's Champion, 2007. He gained 8 points of 9 and shared the 1-2nd places with Aleksan Manukian. Additional match was held between these two chess players to define the winner. Mnatsakanian had a victory with score 2,5:1,5 and won the 1st prize.

Armenian Seniors' Championship, 2007 is being held in Yerevan. IM Edward Mnatsakanian and Armenian last year seniors' champion Aleksan Manukian are the leaders after 7 rounds. They have 6 points each.

Samvel Sevian's Success
 
Samvel Sevian who is only 6 years old won in the Florida State Super Star Invitational Tournament held in Gainesville (FL, USA) in the K-3 section with the perfect score 6 out of 6. According to the organizers this is the first time in Florida that a six-year old kinder gardener becomes a state champion in the section of mostly 9 year old kids.

Armenian GM Rafael Vaganian will take part in Kings' Tournament on June 15-27 in Bazna, Romania.

Ulf Andersson (Sweden), Alexander Beliavsky (Slovenia), Maia Chiburdanidze (Georgia), Alexander Khalifman (Russia), Henrique Costa Mecking (Brazil), Lajos Portisch (Hungary), Zoltan Ribli (Hungary), Andrei Sokolov (France), Mihai Suba (Romania), Jan Timman (Netherlands) also participate in the tournament.

World Juniors & Girls Chess Championships 2007 in Yerevan
 
The World Under 20 Juniors and Girls Chess Championships of this year will be held from October 2 to 17, 2007, in Yerevan, Armenia.

Zaven Andriasian's Success
 
Armenian GM Zaven Andriasian gained 7 points of 11 and shared the 1-4th places in The V International Chess Tournament "World's Youth Stars" dedicated to Vanya Somov's memory, held in Kirishi, Russia.

IM Nepomniachtchi (Russia), GM Mamedov (Azerbaijan), GM Negi (India) shared the success with Andriasian.

Armenian IM Avetik Grigoryan also played successfully. He shared the 5-6th places with 6 points.

Sergei Movsesian's Great Success
 
Armenian GM Sergei Movsesian (Slovakia) won the first prize in the 37th Bosnia Tournament, held in Sarajevo (Bosnia & Herzegovina). Movsesian had no defeats and gained 6,5 points of 10 in the 17th Category Tournament.

Movsesian left behind famous GMs Morozevich (Russia), Short (England), I. Sokolov (Netherlands), Timofeev (Russia), Predojevic (Bosnia & Herzegovina).
