Armenia in the World Women's Team Championship |

Armenia takes part in the 1st World Women`s Team Chess Championship 2007 from 20 to 29 May in Ekaterinburg, Russia. World strongest 10 teams participate in it. Among them are Ukraine, Russia, China, Armenia, Georgia, Czech Republic, Poland, Germany, Vietnam, Botswana.
Armenian team plays in the following composition: WGM Elina Danielian, WGM Lilit Mkrtchian, WGM Nelly Aginian, WIM Siranush Andriasian, Liana Aghabekian. The coach of the team is GM Arsen Yegiazarian.

Armenian GM Tigran L. Petrosian playing in Pristina Team has won a gold medal in the Kosovo Club Championship. Petrosian was playing on the first board and gained 5 points of 6.

Armenian GM, World Cupholder Levon Aronian gets ready for the Champion Title Candidates Matches in Elista, Russia starting on May 26, 2007. Aronian's first opponent is Norwegian GM Magnus Carlsen.
These days Aronian gets ready for the important event in the wonderful holiday resort of Armenia, Tsakhkadzor. Aronian's friends Grandmasters Gabriel Sargissian, Ara Minasian and Arman Pashikian help him.

Armenian IM Krikor-Sevak Mekhitarian (Brazil) gained 6 points of 7 and shared the 1-2nd places in the Brazilian Open, held in San Paulo.
64 chess players took part in the tournament.

Armenian GM Karen Movsziszian gained 7,5 points of 10 and took the 3rd place in the 20th Open held in Benidorm, Spain. Movsziszian was behind the winners GM Ibragim Khamrakulov (Spain) and GM Boris Chatalbashev (Bulgaria) only with 0,5 point.
142 chess players took part in the tournament.

Tigran Gharamian's New Success |

Armenian IM Tigran Gharamian (France) achieves the third great success in the last month. After the achievements in Fourmies and Metz, he shared the 1-2nd places in the 38th Open held in Gonfreville, France. Gharamian gained 7,5 points of 9. GM Andrei Istratescu (Romania) had the same result.
103 chess players took part in the tournament.

Kramnik with score 4:2 in the Rapid Match held in Yerevan, Armenia.
The President of Republic of Armenia Robert Kocharian and the Prime
Minister of Republic of Armenia, the President of Armenian Chess
Federation Serzh Sargsian were present at the Closing Ceremony.
Mr. Sargsian presented Aronian and Kramnik with awards.

The Official Opening Ceremony of Aronian - Kramnik Match took place in Yerevan. The Prime Minister of Republic of Armenia, the President of Armenian Chess Federation Serzh Sargsian and the FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov
spoke during the ceremony.
Then the match started. Kramnik won in the first game and Aronian in the second. The match score is 1:1.
The 3rd and 4th games will start on May 5 at 18:00 and 19:45 (Yerevan time). The games may be followed

The President of Republic of Armenia Robert Kocharian received the World Champion Vladimir Kramnik and the World Cupholder Levon Aronian. The Prime Minister of Republic of Armenia, the President of Armenian Chess Federation Serzh Sargsian and the FIDE President, the President of Republic of Kalmykia Kirsan Ilyumzhinov were present at the meeting.

Aronian - Kramnik Match In Yerevan |

A six game rapid match will take place between World Champion Vladimir Kramnik and World Cupholder Levon Aronian on May 4-6, 2007 in Yerevan, Armenia. The match will be held in the Opera House, that is in one of the most prestigious halls in Yerevan.
Two games will be played each day. The time control will be 25 minutes for the whole game with an increment of 10 seconds per move.
The match is organized by the Armenian Chess Federation. The Match Organizing Committee is headed by the President of Armenian Chess Federation, Prime Minister of Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsian.
The games will start on May 4, 5, 6 at 18:00 and 19:45 (Yerevan time). The games may be followed

Armenian GM Ashot Anastasian gained 6,5 points of 9 and shared 5-10th places in the tournament held in Dubai, UAE. Anastasian was behind the winner GM Levan Pantsulaia (Georgia) only with half point.
GMs Tigran L. Petrosian and Artashes Minasian each gained 6, GM Tigran Kotanjian 5,5, IM Hrant Melkumian 5 points.
125 chess players were taking part in the tournament.
