Levon Aronian in Amber Tournament
 
Armenian GM Levon Aronian takes part in the 16th Amber Blindfold and Rapid Super Tournament which is held in Fairmont Monte Carlo Hotel in Monaco from March 17 to 29, 2007.

GMs Kramnik, Anand, Leko, Svidler, Morozevich, Ivanchuk, Carlsen, Radjabov, Gelfand, Van Wely and Vallejo are Aronian's opponents.

The rounds are held on March 17, 18, 19, 20, 22, 23, 24, 25, 27, 28, 29. Every day there is one round consisting of four sessions; two blindfold sessions (three encounters each) and next two rapid sessions.

The tournament is organized by the Association Max Euwe and the total prize-fund is € 216,000.

Tatevik Airapetian's Success
 
Armenian WFM Tatevik Airapetian gained 7,5 points of 11 and shared the 1-3rd places with WIM Nebolsina and WFM Gunina in the Russian U20 Girls Championship held in Saint Petersburg. Airapetian won the bronze medal. Nebolsina became the champion.

David Arutinian's Success
 
Armenian GM David Arutinian gained 7,5 points of 11 and took the 2nd place in Georgian Championship, held in Tbilisi. Arutinian was the only participant who defeated Georgian champion GM Baadur Jobava.

Tigran L. Petrosian's Success
 
Armenian GM Tigran L. Petrosian took the 2nd place in the 8th Internet Chess Tournament "Ciudad de Dos Hermanas". At first Petrosian had a victory in the preliminary competitions and was included among the 32 best players. Petrosian had a victory over GMs Mamedyarov (Azerbaijan) and Nakamura (USA). Only in the last match Petrosian lost to Jorge Sammour-Hasbun (USA) who then became the tournament winner.

Nearly 2000 players were taking part in the event.

Sargissian's New Great Success
 
Armenian GM Gabriel Sargissian had a new success after his absolute victory in the main tournament of Ruy Lopez Festival which is held in Zafra, Spain. He also won the first prize in the Rapid Open Tournament where all the games started with Lopez Opening. Sargissian had no loses and gained 7,5 points of 9.

89 chess players were taking part in the tournament.

Yerevan Gets Ready For Aronian - Kramnik Match
 
Yerevan gets ready for the rapid match between Levon Aronian and Vladimir Kramnik on May 4-6. World Champion and World Cup Holder will compete for the Prize of Armenian Chess Federation.

The Match Organizing Committee is headed by the President of Armenian Chess Federation, Minister of Defense of Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsian.

Aronian - Kramnik Match will be held in the Opera House, that is in one of the most prestigious halls in Yerevan. The Match Chief Arbiter will be IA Ashot Vardapetian.

Sargissian Defeated Ponomariov
 
Armenian GM Gabriel Sargissian continues his excellent play in Ruy Lopez Festival which is held in Zafra, Spain. He defeated the World Former Champion Ruslan Ponomariov in the fifth round.

Now Sargissian has 4,5 points and is the absolute leader as before. His nearest competitors GMs Perez Candelario and Granda Zuniga are behind him with 1,5 point.

Armenian GM Karen Movsziszian gained 6,5 points of 9 and took the 5th place in the Open Tournament being held in La Laguna, Spain. Movsziszian stayed behind the winner GM Atanas Kolev (Bulgaria) only with 0,5 point.

IM Suren Petrosian, WGM Elina Danielian (both Armenia), GM Sergey Grigoriants (Russia) gained 6,5, GM Zaven Andriasian (Armenia), IM Tigran Gharamian (France) 6, GM Oganes Danielian, GM Tigran Nalbandian (both Armenia) 5,5 points each.

Armenian GM Levon Aronian takes part in the super tournament Morelia-Linares which is held from February 17 till March 10, 2007.

GMs Topalov, Anand, Leko, Svidler, Morozevich, Ivanchuk and Carlsen are Aronian's opponents.

The second part of the tournament is held on March 2-10 in Linares (Spain).

The rounds in Linares are held on March 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 9, 10.

Aronian-Kramnik Match in Yerevan
 

A six game rapid match will take place between World Champion Vladimir Kramnik and World Cup Holder Levon Aronian on May 4-6, 2007 in Yerevan, Armenia. Two games will be played each day. The time control will be 25 minutes for the whole game with an increment of 10 seconds per move.

Armenian GM Varuzhan Akobian (USA) gained 5,5 points of 7 and shared the 3-8th places with GMs Stellwagen (Netherlands), Gonzalez (Mexico), Bruzon (Cuba), Potkin (Russia) and IM Leon Hoyos (Mexico) in the 2nd International Open held in Morelia, Mexico.

GMs Vadim Milov (Switzerland) and Ivan Cheparinov (Bulgaria) shared the 1-2nd places each with 6 points.
