Chibukhchian Fulfilled a Grandmaster Norm
 
Armenian chess player Artur Chibukhchian fulfilled a Grandmaster norm in the Aeroflot-Open, 2007 held in Moscow, Russia.

Another Armenian chess player Gevorg Harutjunyan fulfilled an International Master norm in the Aeroflot-Open.

International Tournament Jermuk-2007
 
The Chess Academy of Armenia is organizing an International Open Chess Tournament from June 24 (the day of arrival) to July 3 (the day of departure) in the resort town of Jermuk. Participants (boys and girls) will be from 8 to 18 years old. The winner of the tournament will receive an invitation to participate in the Sevan-2007 International Tournament. The total prize fund of the tournament is 1 860 000 AMD /Armenian dram/.

Levon Aronian in Morelia-Linares
 
Armenian GM Levon Aronian takes part in the super tournament Morelia-Linares which is held from February 17 till March 10, 2007.

GMs Topalov, Anand, Leko, Svidler, Morozevich, Ivanchuk and Carlsen are Aronian's opponents.

The first part of the tournament is held on February 17-25 in Morelia (Mexico) and the second part on March 2-10 in Linares (Spain).

The rounds in Morelia are held on February 17, 18, 19, 21, 22, 24, 25 .

Armenian Chess Players in Aeroflot Open
 
Olympic champions Vladimir Akopian, Gabriel Sargissian, Karen Asrian, Artashes Minasian and other Armenian strong grandmasters take part in Aeroflot Open tournament which is held on February 14-22, 2007 in Moscow, Russia.

Karen Movsziszian in Soller Tournament
 
Armenian GM Karen Movsziszian gained 5,5 points of 9 and won the 2nd place in the tournament held in Soller, Spain. IM Pontus Carlsson (Sweden) won the 1st place with 6,5 points.

Tigran Kotanjian's Success
 
Armenian GM Tigran Kotanjian gained 9 points of 11 and shared the 1-3rd places with GM Ghaem Maghami Eshan and IM Mahjoob Morteza (both Iran) in the International Open, held in Ahwaz, Iran.

Gevorg Harutjunyan (Armenia), GM Giorgi Bagaturov (Georgia) gained 8,5 points each, GM Sergey Kasparov (Belarus) - 8, Arman Hayrapetian (Armenia) - 7 points.

240 chess players were taking part in the tournament.

Karen Movsziszian in Sevilla Tournament
 
Armenian GM Karen Movsziszian gained 6,5 points of 9 and shared the 10-25th places in the Open held in Sevilla, Spain. GMs Van Der Weide (Netherlands) and Campora Sivori (Argentina) shared the 1-2nd places with 7,5 points each.

228 chess players were taking part in the tournament.

Aronian's and Sargissian's Victories in Bundesliga
 
Armenian GMs Levon Aronian and Gabriel Sargissian who play in the team Kreuzberg in German Bundesliga, had a victory over strong chess players in the match with Werder Bremen. Aronian won GM Luke McShane (England) and Sargissian - GM Zahar Efimenko (Ukraine).

New Titles for Armenian Chess Players
 
FIDE gave new titles to Armenian chess players. Arman Pashikian obtained the title of grandmaster, Hrant Melkumyan and Avetik Grigoryan obtained the title of international master, Ashot Nadanian obtained the title of FIDE trainer.

FIDE also gave the title of grandmaster to Armenian chess player Sergey Kasparov (Belarus).

Vladimir Akopian Won in Gibraltar
 

The 5th Gibtelecom Masters Tournament ended with Armenian GM Vladimir Akopian's excellent victory. Akopian gained 7,5 points of 9 and won the clear first place.

GM Kuzubov (Ukraine) had the same results as Akopian before the last round. But Armenian Grandmaster defeated his main opponent and passed ahead with one point.
