Armenian GM Vladimir Akopian has 4,5 points after 6 rounds in the 5th Gibtelecom Masters Tournament, Great Britain. Akopian is staying behind the leaders: GMs Efimenko (Ukraine), M. Gurevich (Turkey), Kuzubov (Ukraine), Milov (Switzerland), I. Sokolov (Netherlands), Sulskis (Lithuania), only with 0,5 point.

Armenian GM Melikset Khachiyan (USA) and IM Andranik Matikozyan (Armenia) gained 5,5 points of 7 and shared the 1-2nd places in Western Class Championship, held in Agoura Hills, California, USA.

Levon Aronian Won in the Corus
 

Levon Aronian (in the centre) won the Corus main prize.

Armenian GM Levon Aronian gained 8,5 points of 13 and took the first place in the Corus tournament held in Wijk aan Zee.

 GMs Topalov (Bulgaria) and Radjabov (Azerbaijan) gained the same points but Aronian took the lead over them with extra factors.

1st ACP World Rapid Cup
 
The 1st ACP World Rapid Cup is scheduled to take place 4th to 8th January 2007 in Odessa, Ukraine. The event, organized by Bank Pivdennyi, is the final stage of the ACP Tour. The prize fund of the tournament amounts to 136,000 USD. Those who gained the right to participate in the 1st ACP World Rapid Cup are the 14 players who performed best in the ACP Tours held in 2004/2005 and 2005/2006.
