Vladimir Akopian is the leader of the Isle of Man Tournament
 
Armenian GM Vladimir Akopian is the leader after 7 rounds in the 15th Monarch Tournament held in Isle of Man, Great Britain. Akopian had a victory over GM Valeriy Neverov (Ukraine) in the 7th round and now has 5,5 points. GMs Alexander Areshchenko (Ukraine), Mateusz Bartel (Poland) and Mikhail Kobalia (Russia) have the same points, but Akopian is the first in the cross table.

Two rounds are left till the end of the event. Akopian will play with Bartel in the 8th round.

Armenian GM Vladimir Akopian has 4,5 points of 6 in the 15th Monarch Assurance Tournament which is held in Isle of Man, Great Britain. Akopian ended the game in a draw with the GM Bartosz Socko (Poland) in the 6th round.
Now Akopian shares 3-9 places.

GMs Mateusz Bartel and Michal Krasenkov (both Poland) are leading each with 5 points.

Akopian will play with Valeriy Neverov (Ukraine) in the 7th round.

Now Akopian shares 3-5 places with GM Bartosz Socko (Poland) and Alexander Areshchenko (Ukraine).

Armenian IM Zaven Andriasian took the second prize in U18 European Youth Championship which was held in Herceg Novi, Montenegro.

Armenian U14 team took the first place in European Rapid Team Championship.

Armenian chess player Samvel Ter Sahakyan took the first prizes in U14 European Rapid and Blitz Championships.

Okie Chess Festival
 
Armenian FM Movses Movsisyan (USA) gained 3,5 points of 7 and shared the 3-4 places in the 2nd Okie Chess Festival held in Tulsa, USA.

FM Michael Langer won the first prize with 5,5 points.

Armenian GM Igor Efimov (Italy) gained 7 points of 9 and won the first prize at the tournament held in Trieste, Italy.

Sergey Grigoriants' success
 
Armenian GM Sergey Grigoriants gained 6 points of 9 and took the 5th place in Russian Championship, High League held in Tomsk. Grigoriants got the right to participate in the Super-final of Russian Championship.

GM Ernesto Inarkiev won the first prize with 6,5 points.

58 chess players were participating at the tournament.

Krikor Sevag Mekhitarian's victory
 
Armenian chess player Krikor Sevag Mekhitarian (Brazil) gained 6 points of 7 and won the first prize in the 1st Vitoria Open. Mekhitarian left behind several grandmasters and famous masters from American Continent.

Another Armenian chess player Jefferson Pelikian shared 5-10 places with 5 points.

67 chess players were participating at the tournament.

Armenian chess players at Istanbul Festival
 
Armenian GM David Arutinian, Armen Grigoriev (both Georgia) and a young chess player David Kalashian gained 6,5 points of 9 each at Main Open finished in Istanbul, Turkey. Another Armenian GM Giorgi Bagaturov (Georgia) gained 6 points.

8 participants have the best results of 7,5 points each. GM Sergei Azarov (Belarus) won the first prize. Nearly 350 chess players were participating at the tournament.

A part of Istanbul Festival was also "University Open". Armenian IM Georgi Arzumanian gained 6,5 points of 9 and took the 8th place. Iveri Chigladze (Georgia) won with 7,5 points. 100 chess players were participating at the tournament.

Tigran A. Petrosian fulfilled the IM norm
 

Armenian chess player Tigran A. Petrosian fulfilled the International Master norm at tournament in Kobuleti, Georgia. Petrosian gained 6,5 points of 9 and took the second place. The winner is Davit Jojua (Georgia) with 7 points.

Tigran A. Petrosian fulfills the IM norm the third time.

Sergey Kasparov's victory in Haarlem
 

Armenian IM Sergey Kasparov (Belarus) won the first prize at the tournament held in Haarlem, Netherlands. He gained 6,5 points of 9 and now has a point more than his nearest competitor.

Armenian GMs David Arutinian, Giorgi Bagaturov (Georgia) and Armenian young chess player David Kalashian have 5,5 points of 7 each at tournament held in Istanbul, Turkey.

GM Spartak Vysochin (Ukraine) is leading with 6,5 points. 350 chess players are participating at the tournament.

Two rounds are left before the end of the tournament.

Katerina Rohonyan in Atlantic Open
 

Armenian WGM Katerina Rohonyan (Ukraine) gained 3,5 points of 5 and took the 9th place in 38th Atlantic Open held in Washington, USA.

GM Eugene Perelshteyn (USA) took the first place with 4,5 points.

Smbat Lputian has been discharged from the hospital
 

Armenian GM Smbat Lputian and his relatives who suffered from the car accident nearly a week ago, have been discharged from the hospital and will continue the course of treatment at home. According to doctors the state of Lputian and his family members is satisfactory.

Vaganian in Cruise Rapid Tournament
 

A rapid tournament took place 28 August - 2 September 2006 during the Odessa-Istanbul-Odessa Black Sea ship cruise.

Armenian GM Rafael Vaganian gained 5,5 points of 11 and took the 5th place among 12 participants.

GM Vassily Ivanchuk took the first prize with 10 points.

Armenian teams in European Club Cup
 

Armenian teams will participate in European Club Cup 2006 will be held in Fugen, Austria from 7 to 15 October 2006. "Bank King" club will play in men's and "Mika Yerevan" in women's tournaments.
