The 69th Armenian Championship will be held from January 12 to 25, 2009, in Yerevan. GMs Tigran L. Petrosian, Arman Pashikian, Tigran Kotanjian, Zaven Andriasian, Ashot Anastasian, Artashes Minasian, Hrant Melkumyan, Avetik Grigoryan, Samvel Ter-Sahakyan, Ara Minasian, Tigran Nalbandian, IMs Levon Babujian, Elina Danielian, Artur Chibukhchian will participate in the tournament.
On January 11, 2009, at 14:00 (Yerevan time), the opening of the championship will be held in the Petrosian Chess House.
